Well, they are all true and would play a part in determining your success in life and in your career. However, from our experience in developing young talents into CEOs and high achieving entrepreneurs among Fortune 500 companies across 39 countries, we can confidently sum it all up to – Your Pitch!
Whether you like it or even admit it, the most successful people we admire in life, are often great communicators! Take President Obama of the USA, imagine Apple’s Steve Jobs or even China’s richest entrepreneur, Alibaba.com’s Jack Ma. They all possess charisma in the way how they pitch themselves.
For those who consider themselves as introverts, they made sure they hired professional publicist or promoter to enhance their charisma. Take Dato’ Lee Chong Wei who has a manager to manage his brand endorsements and get the Malaysian crowd to love him!
So, the main question remains, especially for graduates, striving to earn that $1 million career or raise that $1 million fund to start their multibillion dollar business empire – How can you become a Pro-Pitcher and Sell Millions?

Well, here are the 3 simple steps on how you can Pitch like a CEO and Sell Millions!
(1) Your Mastery of the Subject and Your Confidence
People are attracted to you because of your confidence! Imagine when you are in a crowded party scene, and you would notice the lady or the man with the most radiant smile and who is well dressed, ready to take you up to the dance floor! If you think of it, being well dressed, being prepared after having done research on your topic and showing a great persona through a smile or a warm handshake and raising the tonality of your voice in a friendly way, would draw people to you. When you start pitching with the right ‘Know-how’ of the topic and ‘Welcoming’ body gestures, people would be drawn to speak to you and offer you that job, that deal or simply, that money which you want in your life! Try it! Be friendlier and have more energy in your pitch! The saying goes ‘Like attracts Like,’ and trust me, no one wants to be around a gloomy person.
(2) Master the Structure of Answering the Critical Human Needs
Before you start your pitch, plan out your structure of ‘Telling’ your story. A method which has worked with many of our clients which we work with, would often being with – Identifying the Reason of Your Pitch, knowing the purpose of you reaching out to the person. This is followed with, the ‘Switching Hats and What IF he was I…’techniques, where you imagine, what would the person which you want to pitch to, want to hear from your pitch, so imagine you are HIM! Lastly, be very clear about HOW you would want the person to help you with the ideas that you have pitched to him and draft out a list of BENEFITS in which you can give him if he so chooses to support your idea. Thinking ahead is key here in crafting a killer pitch!
(3) Follow-Up and Follow-Up
After you have done your quick 1 minute to 2-minute pitch, people often get too excited or nervous that they would forget to ask for the other person’s business card or to ask the person to commit to follow through with their conversation. Big Mistake! A successful pitch has a follow-up step, in which you would need to keep in touch with the person. If you are going to send him an email, do it! If you can meet him next week to discuss more, do it! If you promise the person something, commit to do it! People often mistaken that a pitch starts and ends in that split minute on the networking floor, but most often, million dollars deals and lasting relationships happen after the initial pitch.
In conclusion, pitching is an art which anyone can learn, yet few will do it and even fewer will follow up. The golden rule to a pitch does not only revolve around the idea of you selling your ideas. It is more about you being seen and ‘Felt’ as a genuine person, who is sincerely looking to add value to the listener’s life. Try these new approaches towards pitching and you will foster great friendships which would bring you more wealth and opportunities!
